Welcome to February 2012! If you were born in the year 2000 in February, how could you have had 25 birthdays at the end of the century?
Here are some updates I wanted to share with you. On January 2nd we began our biggest loser contest. Currently Howard is in the lead, congratulations to Howard and the other participants for their hard work. Wouldn’t it be great to lose a person between all of us? On the 17th ECCU received an award from the Cy-fair Chamber of Commerce for Mid-sized business of the year for 2011, thanks especially to Ricardo and our team for this outstanding achievement! This was published in the Texas Credit Union League Leaguer State wide publication and the Houston Chronicle (See the attached picture).Last week we finalized our staff survey with over 90% of our staff participating (HRN tells me that average participation is 70% so this is excellent). Thanks to each of you for taking time to complete. HRN will be sharing the results with our board later this month. We will be following up with HRN and sharing with the staff in March or April. We were also recognized by Bauer financial with a five star rating (the best rating available). You can check out our rating at; (http://www.bauerfinancial.com/btc_ratings.asp?q=cu).
Our staff retreat is scheduled for February 20 with all staff over at the Berry Center. Our Key note presenter will be Cathy Goodwin bringing back the 2nd portion of her member’s service series she began last year with our staff. Also we will have a great lunch followed by an award ceremony featuring various achievements by staff during 2011. Also are you looking for free Rodeo tickets? Check out the Facebook for Member Home Loan.
Last week our annual budget was approved by the board of directors. This budget reflects a loan growth goal of 4.19% and a membership growth goal of 2.54%. Also a net loss of $450,764 is projected for the year due to declining rates and a low % of our assets loaned out to members. We will want to continue to focus on quality loan growth for 2012 and increased membership with our Harris County Field of membership expansion through the Friends of Consumer Freedom as soon as it is approved by the State CU Department.
This year was declared the year of the Cooperatives by the United Nations, as a result there are several initiatives that you will see launched by the World Counsel of Credit Unions. To make this year a success I need each of you to play an active role. We are seeing a financial revolution like never before around the world. I will leave you with this video challenging credit unions to step up to the plate and make a difference for our members! (http://vimeo.com/33612613)
Have an awesome day,
Randall
